About Paul Ledford
Candidate for 58th District Court Judge

For nearly 30 years I’ve practiced law in this region—handling criminal, civil, and business matters. I understand the real-world impact district court decisions have on families, small businesses, and public safety. I’m running to ensure the court remains fair, efficient, constitutional, and accessible to everyone in our community.”
Paul A. Ledford has devoted nearly 30 years to the practice of law, guided by a deep respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, and the responsibility that comes with serving others.
A lifelong West Michigan resident, Paul graduated from Coopersville High School in 1988. He earned his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Northern Michigan University and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School. He has been practicing law since 1996.
In 2002, Paul founded Ledford & Associates, representing individuals, families, and businesses throughout West Michigan. He is admitted to practice in all Michigan courts and in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. His experience includes civil litigation, criminal matters, business and real estate law, probate, and appellate work.
Throughout his career, Paul has taught and lectured on constitutional principles, civil liberties, and the importance of responsible citizenship. For over a decade, he taught the legal portion of Michigan’s Concealed Pistol License course, helping thousands understand both their rights and their responsibilities under the law. He has also served as a guest lecturer and adjunct professor at Grand Valley State University.
Paul believes that the role of judge is one of integrity and stewardship. Paul believes a judge’s duty is to apply the law as written, protect constitutional rights, ensure due process, and treat every person who enters the courtroom with dignity and impartiality. He is committed to maintaining safe communities through the fair and consistent interpretation of the law, while safeguarding the individual liberties guaranteed by our Constitution.
Paul and his wife have been married for 33 years. They are the parents of five adult children and currently serve as guardians for one of them. They attend church in Wyoming, where Paul serves on the church security team and he and his wife are involved in the Married Life ministry.
Having grown up in Ottawa County and practiced law here for decades, Paul understands the values of faith, family, responsibility, and community. If elected, he will serve with integrity, steadiness, and respect for the constitutional principles that protect both liberty and order.

Public Safety
Violent crime and repeat offenses must be taken seriously. The court must carefully consider community safety in every lawful decision it makes.
Accountability
Probation should mean something. When a person violates probation, the court should respond in a way that is lawful, meaningful, and appropriate to the facts.
Constitutional Rights
Every person has rights. The court must protect due process, individual liberty, and a strict construction of the Constitution as the framers intended in every case.
