Paul Ledford is running for 58th District Court Judge in Ottawa County for the open seat following Judge Knoll’s retirement. With 30 years of experience in civil and criminal matters, Paul brings the steady judgment, legal experience, and respect for the rule of law that district court requires.
Paul believes a judge should be fair, firm when necessary, merciful where appropriate, and humble in service to the community.
Why Paul Is Running
District court is where many people first encounter the justice system. It is where the court handles criminal charges, probation violations, civil disputes, landlord-tenant issues, small claims, and many of the everyday matters that affect families, victims, officers, businesses, and taxpayers.
Paul Ledford is running because Ottawa County deserves a district judge who will:
- apply the law fairly,
- protect constitutional rights,
- take violent crime seriously,
- make careful decisions about release and bond,
- hold repeat offenders and probation violators accountable,
- treat every person in court with dignity and respect,
- and serve with humility, not politics from the bench.
Paul’s guiding principle is simple:
Act justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly.
That means justice must be real. Mercy must be wise. And public service must be humble.

Register to vote:
- If there are 15+ days before an election, voters can register online, by mail, or
- Within 14 days of an election, and on Election Day, voters may only register by visiting their local clerk’s office to register in person with proof of residency documentation.

Public Safety
Violent crime and repeat offenses must be taken seriously. The court must carefully consider community safety in every lawful decision it makes.
Accountability
Probation should mean something. When a person violates probation, the court should respond in a way that is lawful, meaningful, and appropriate to the facts.

Every person has rights. The court must protect due process, individual liberty, and a strict construction of the Constitution as the framers intended in every case.
